For first pregnancies and for those that need more attention, such as BP, sugar, thyroid or a past loss, looked after on Luz Church Road in Mylapore.
Founded by Dr. Rukkayal Fathima, MRCOG (UK) · 15+ years
Dr. P. Lakshmi Priyaa consults here in high-risk obstetrics and obstetric emergencies.
Both doctors here are trained in high-risk pregnancy care. These are common reasons for extra visits.
Raised blood pressure
Readings at every visit, and at home if your doctor asks. Headaches, swelling of the face or hands, or blurred vision mean you should come in the same day.
Gestational diabetes
If the sugar test is high, you will be shown how to check your levels at home, and your diet and medicine are adjusted from those readings.
Thyroid conditions
If you already take thyroid tablets, the dose often needs raising early in pregnancy, so come as soon as the test is positive.
A history of miscarriage
An early scan, a fixed schedule for the first trimester, and the same doctor at each visit.
Past surgery on the uterus
Fibroid or endometriosis surgery can affect how the birth is planned. Dr. P. Lakshmi Priyaa, who does laparoscopic and endometriosis surgery, reviews your operation notes early on.
The centre is at No. 149/1, Luz Church Road. Women come from Alwarpet, R.A. Puram, Mandaveli, Santhome, Abhiramapuram, Gopalapuram and Kotturpuram, and from offices on Anna Salai at Teynampet and Nandanam, Cathedral Road and TTK Road.
Thirumayilai MRTS is a short hop away, and Royapettah High Road and TTK Road make the drive simple from most of Central Chennai. The centre is open from 9 AM to 7 PM every day, so a visit can fit before work or on a Sunday.
A routine check-up here includes your consultation, a scan when one is due, blood tests in the same visit and medicines from the pharmacy on the way out.
A high-risk pregnancy usually means more visits. They still happen on Luz Church Road with the same doctor, with extra BP checks, sugar tests or scans added to your schedule.

Pregnant after fertility treatment?
Many women who conceive with treatment feel nervous in the first weeks. Your antenatal care can continue in Mylapore with the same team, with closer checks early on and routine visits once the pregnancy is well established.
If your pregnancy is high-risk, a check-up usually runs like this.
BP and urine
Blood pressure and a urine test for protein, which can be an early warning of pre-eclampsia.
Your home readings
Bring your sugar or BP diary. A week of readings shows your doctor far more than one test on the day, and doses are set from it.
A scan, when due
Done here to check the baby's growth, heartbeat and the fluid around the baby.
Blood tests
Taken in the sample collection area in the same visit: sugar, thyroid or haemoglobin, depending on your condition.
Your next date
You leave knowing when to come back and which symptoms mean you should not wait for it.
