Most visits are routine. These five have a fixed time window, so it helps to know them in advance.
Dating scan
6–10 weeks, here
Confirms the heartbeat and sets your due date. Every later test is timed from it.
NT scan and blood test
11–13 weeks, arranged by your doctor
Screening for chromosomal conditions. The window closes at the end of week 13, so book it as soon as your doctor gives you the date.
Anomaly scan
18–22 weeks, arranged by your doctor
A detailed scan of how the baby is forming. Plan the travel for this day early.
Sugar test
24–28 weeks, here
The blood test for gestational diabetes, done in the sample collection area at Red Hills.
Birth planning visit
Around 36 weeks, here
Your doctor goes through the plan for the birth at Yaal's Kilpauk hospital: when to leave, what to carry and who to call.
A pregnancy means a visit every month, then every week near the end. For families in Puzhal, Madhavaram, Sholavaram, Manali or Thiruvottiyur, crossing the city each time is tiring and costs a working day. Red Hills keeps those visits local.
The centre is on the first floor of Kumar Towers, opposite Padianallur Bus Depot, near GNT Road. Women from Ponneri and Gummidipoondi come down the highway, and the Outer Ring Road and the Chennai Bypass at Puzhal bring in families from the wider North Chennai belt.
Many families here work in the Manali and Ennore industrial belt, at Ambattur Industrial Estate or at the Gummidipoondi SIPCOT estate. The centre is open 9 AM to 7 PM every day, including Sunday, so visits can be fitted around shifts, yours and your husband's.

Take a home pregnancy test from the first day of your missed period, using first-morning urine. If negative and your period is still late, retest in 3 days.

Implantation symptoms can include light spotting, mild cramps and breast tenderness, but many women feel nothing. See the timeline after ovulation or IVF.

Start folic acid ideally three months before trying to conceive and keep taking it through the first trimester. It lowers the risk of spina bifida in the baby.
