Obstetrics Care at Yaal Fertility Centre, Chennai
Safe, attentive labour, delivery, and immediate postpartum care
What is Obstetrics Care?
Obstetrics care at Yaal Fertility Centre focuses on the labour, delivery, and immediate postpartum period, the stage where close clinical judgement matters most. Our team supports vaginal deliveries and caesarean sections as needed, using continuous fetal heart rate and contraction monitoring in labour to identify concerns such as prolonged labour, malpresentation, or fetal distress early. For women who have had a previous caesarean, whether a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) may be appropriate is assessed individually, looking at the type of uterine incision used previously, the reason for that caesarean, how this pregnancy is progressing, and the availability of immediate surgical backup if needed. Immediately after delivery, we actively manage the third stage of labour to reduce the risk of postpartum haemorrhage, and support early skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding initiation, while monitoring both mother and baby closely through the first hours after birth. Throughout, the aim is to support as natural a delivery as is safely possible while being fully prepared to act quickly if complications arise, keeping both mother and baby at the centre of every decision.
