Periods, PCOS, white discharge, pelvic pain and menopause, checked close to home in Red Hills for families along GNT Road, without a trip into the city.

Most gynecology care is now available on this side of Chennai.
At Red Hills, Kumar Towers
At Yaal's Kilpauk hospital
The centre is on the first floor of Kumar Towers, opposite Padianallur Bus Depot on GNT Road. Women come from Puzhal, Madhavaram, Padiyanallur and Sholavaram, and from further out in Manali, Thiruvottiyur, Ennore, Ponneri and Gummidipoondi.
Many families here work in the Manali and Ennore industrial belt, the Gummidipoondi SIPCOT estate or Ambattur Industrial Estate. When a husband or wife works shifts, losing a whole day to a city hospital is hard to arrange, and check-ups get pushed back. With a clinic on GNT Road, a visit takes a morning or an afternoon.
Red Hills also has its own operation theatre and recovery room. Some day procedures are done here, and you go home the same day.
Heavy periods deserve a special mention. Anaemia is common among Indian women, and months of heavy bleeding make it worse: tiredness, breathlessness on the stairs, hair fall. A haemoglobin test and a pelvic scan at the first visit usually show whether bleeding is the cause and what is behind it.
Come in with any of these. No referral is needed, and the clinic is not only for women planning a pregnancy.
Irregular or heavy periods
Checked with a scan and blood tests for hormones, thyroid, fibroids or polyps.
Tiredness with heavy bleeding
Often a sign of anaemia. A haemoglobin test gives the answer in the same visit.
PCOS
Diagnosed from cycle history, hormone tests and a scan, with a plan for cycles, weight, skin and hair.
White discharge and infections
One of the most common worries, and one many women stay silent about. Swabs are taken if needed, and it is usually easy to treat.
Pelvic and lower back pain
Pain low in the abdomen or back that keeps coming back, assessed with an ultrasound in the same visit.
Painful periods
Pain that keeps you off work or away from housework for a day or more each month should be checked.
Menopause
Hot flushes, sleep trouble and joint aches, and any bleeding after periods have stopped for a year.
Cervical screening
A quick Pap smear in the consulting room, usually repeated every three years.
What to expect, from reception to going home.

Red Hills or Kilpauk
Most women leave with medicines and a plan. Day procedures are done in the centre's own theatre; anything needing admission is planned at Yaal's Kilpauk hospital.

Irregular periods mean cycles under 21 or over 35 days. Common causes are PCOS, thyroid, high prolactin, stress and weight change. See tests and when to worry.
