A scan in the same visit, so treatment fits the cause

Many gynecology problems look alike from the outside. Heavy periods can come from a fibroid, a polyp, a thyroid problem or a hormone imbalance. Pelvic pain can be a cyst, an infection or endometriosis. The right treatment for each is different, so a pelvic ultrasound in the same visit narrows it down before any medicine is started.

Dr. Aiswarya R is trained in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound as well as gynaecological endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery. When she shows you a fibroid on the screen, she can also tell you whether it is the kind that needs removing or the kind that can be left alone.

For women in Mogappair, Valasaravakkam, Iyyappanthangal, Poonamallee and Nolambur, that means a full first assessment without crossing the city. Results are explained before you leave, and if anything needs treatment elsewhere, your doctor arranges it.

Women working at DLF IT Park, L&T Tech Park or Commerzone Porur, or at Ambattur Industrial Estate, can come on a Saturday or Sunday. The centre is open all seven days.

What West Chennai women ask us about

Each of these starts with a conversation and, usually, a scan the same day.

Heavy periods

The scan looks for fibroids or polyps, and a blood test checks for anaemia and thyroid problems.

Irregular cycles and PCOS

Diagnosed from your cycle history, hormone levels and an ovarian scan.

Ovarian cysts

Measured on ultrasound and rechecked after a few weeks. Many shrink on their own.

Fibroids and polyps

Their size and position on the scan decide whether they cause symptoms and whether anything needs doing.

Pelvic pain

Ongoing or one-sided pain, assessed with an examination and scan.

Painful periods

Checked for endometriosis and other causes, then treated.

White discharge and infections

A swab helps pick the right medicine when the usual treatment hasn't worked.

Menopause

Flushes, sleep and bone health, and a scan of the womb lining if there is bleeding after periods stop.

Questions We Hear Often

Where is the Velappanchavadi centre?+
2nd Floor, Dr. Mehta's Global Campus, No. 50, Poonamallee High Road, Velappanchavadi, Thiruverkadu. Vanagaram is next door, and Porur is a short drive along the Avadi–Porur Road.
Can an ovarian cyst or fibroid be removed here?+
Gynecological surgery such as laparoscopy or hysteroscopy is planned at Yaal's Kilpauk hospital. Your scans, decisions and follow-up visits can stay at Velappanchavadi.
Is there a woman gynecologist at Velappanchavadi?+
Yes. Dr. Rukkayal Fathima and Dr. Aiswarya R are both women.
Is the centre open on weekends?+
Yes. It is open from 9 AM to 7 PM, Monday to Sunday, which suits women working in the Porur and Manapakkam tech parks.
Do I have to be trying for a baby to visit?+
No. Women come here for periods, PCOS, cysts, infections and menopause, with no plans for a pregnancy.
Can young or unmarried women be examined here comfortably?+
Yes. The visit starts with a conversation. If a scan is needed, it is usually done over the abdomen for unmarried women, and nothing is done without your agreement.
How can I prepare, and what should I bring?+
Since the visit aims to find a cause, past evidence helps: bring old scan and blood reports. Note the first day of your last period and roughly how long your cycles run, list the medicines you take, and write down each symptom with when it started.
Does the fee include the scan?+
Yes. A consultation with an ultrasound costs ₹300 to ₹600. Blood tests are separate, and the doctor tells you their cost before ordering them.
